It will be interesting to see if they can develop the same type of political consensus as the G7. If not...just another trading block (and a poor one at that).
If they do develop political consensus, then it could be a very strong organization. There is a huge amount to overcome there however."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003

It is a function of Economy!
As for G7, it is an organization of one Master (USA) and six lackeys. Same as NATO.
BRICS+ is a union of SOVEREIGN STATES, dummy!

There is an enormous amount of ground to cover before they become the type of block the G7 is.
IF and when they get there, then I would agree that they would be an imposing counterweight to the G7. I just don't see that likely in the near future. But it is a beginning."I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003
