Serb, if someone claimed that Soviet shelling of Finland, or Syrian shelling of Israel from the Golan heights, or even the Russian shelling of Chechnya, or hell almost any shelling involving opposing armed groups, whether or not civilian collateral damage occurred, I'd still laugh. Shelling is not realistially a genocidal tool. It's indiscriminate. Indiscriminate weapons kill lots of civilians sure, just look at aerial bombing in WWIi, but unless the attacker has reason to expect the entire target territory is relatively ethnically homogeneous it's not going to serve a genocidal end.

Children died in Donbas before the special operation for the same reason they do all along both sides of the front lines in Ukraine now.
