So who do we think the field will be. So far the "For sures" include only Trump.

"Probable's" include Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis

"Possibles" include Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo

Who else do you think may be on the list?

Niki Haley announcing would be bad for the right, I think. She'd likely do well enough to harm the eventual winner -being good-looking, and personal charisma does matter- but she's hopelessly mediocre.

But then, mediocre is about as high as that list rises...

She has a "Big Announcement" on Feb. 15. I think she is running. I am betting on her being the VP candidate in the end.

i think DeSantis has the best shot at both winning over trump supporters and winning the white house in 2024. not sure who would be the best running mate for him.

Yeah...DeSantis is more like Trump light with actual governing experience. Still think Nikki would be a good VP candidate for him but lots of territory to cover before that decision is made by whoever wins.

            Two questions:

1.) Who do you think would be the best candidate for the Republicans?
2.) Who on the democrat side is anything but mediocre?

thats the real question - who will the dems/liberals go with?! who will be left in 2024 after the dems/liberal spend the next two years eating each other? It's the puppet or the usual suspects. harris is already being 'removed''. the pickings are thin on the left.

Republicans I would consider voting for: Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, Justin Amash.

I think they are resigning themselves to pumping Biden full of stimulants, giving him a big teleprompter, and an Easter bunny on the campaign trail to keep him away from anything important.

                    Isn't Amash libertarian?

I would vote for Romney over Biden. If it was Cheney vs Biden....that would be hard to get myself to the polls. Whew....

No. Women who stand up for their principles are awesome! Liz Cheney is overbearing. Liz is also part of the butt hurt Bush crowd and is a political hit man. Her “principles” are power alone.

Obviously false. She literally sacrificed her seat in the house to stand up for what she believes in. Please try harder.

And you have some cheek to call Liz Cheney overbearing after you voted for Trump

i have to disagree with you on this one PLATO. With the puppets polling numbers... his failing speech and placing words together and his 'only going to be older and way more gone' age in 2024... the dems/liberals are already setting the stage. they will throw him under the bus - which is where harris already is.

I can sure see this happening as well, but they do have to find someone to run don't they?

they had to find someone to be the puppets VP... they found harris. which pretty much means the dems/liberals will take whoever/whatever they can find. they seem to have an endless list when saying it that way.

I can't give you a non-mediocre Democrat, M, off the top of my head who's paid their dues besides Bernie and Dr. Warren, -and Bernie's not a Democrat again- and those two are way. too. old. (Democrats suck, and I won't support someone profoundly unqualified. [shrugs] Qualified is government executive experience, usually a governor, and at least one whole hitch in a house of congress, plus a decent length resume in some level of government in general - which left Bakrama out back in the day, first time, and I think that shortcoming showed in a way weaker presidency than he had potential for.)

Can we at least agree that 70th birthday is inherently disqualifying?

I just googled Mike Pompeo, 'cause I don't know much about him - and I see he told Reason that he grew up Libertarian -I got me some sympathy for libertarians despite the actual ones being so lame- and I think the fact that I'd heard the name a lot and remembered nothing scrofulous, no showing his butt in public, after him doing a hitch as SoS is probably a sign that he's something like the least offensive candidate to the other side -

                            - besides Nikki, who IS vice material, being kinda just there, and definitely kinda pretty...
