  • Stagflation investing

I have no advice for investing in a stagflation economy.. I've given it little consideration because I felt reasonably sure I'd never experience it. For years I've bought a steady chunk of ETFs to represent the entire global economy and didn't bother adjusting in anticipation of ups or downs. That has served well to date but I suspect no longer.

I'm posting this just to fish for strategies anyone else might be considering.

How is everyone else shifting their investments to try to stay ahead in this stagflation bear market?

I left the stock market (mostly) in January to focus on my startup.

I have been buying big dividend payers with strong cash flow.

I've started sports betting. I'm getting a positive return, which is more than i can say for cash, let alone bonds.

That's the wrong question. Doesn't matter who I think will win if the offered odds are ****e.

This is kind of where I have landed as well. I am looking at i-bills right now though as a bit of diversification as this looks like it may be going to continue for at least another year or so. They have a pretty attractive return given current circumstances.

i am years away from needing it. I am just going to ride the storm out and save as much as i can. That's always worked in the past.

Lucky you. If you have time on your side, then these downturns could actually work in your favor in the long run. At a younger age it is all about share count. As you get older it becomes more about Dollar value. Pump everything you can into a 401K when times are bad so that you can accumulate the highest share count possible. When a run up happens you will have made a killing!
