Russia loses that and logistics become enormously more difficult for their southern army. Getting it under fire control will start a process of seriously degrading Russia's ability to continue a robust combat regime north of Melitopol.

The U.S. has sent Ukraine $46.6 billion in military aid (this would rank 10th in the world for military budgets). This level of support will start to get politically difficult for either party to continue. (This doesn't consider Europe's contributions)
