Yeah, I'm not showing her the full movies, just some of the songs.

I don't understand this thread. It's like Poly from over a decade ago.

We use to have 1-3 hours of screen time most weeks, and felt a little guilty when it got above 2.

Now we have 1-3 hours of non-class screen time most days, and keeping it below 3 hours requires effort.

Thee amount of movies, and songs, they do has increased a lot.

They are also now fans of the Pete the Cat songs (Elvis Costello/etc).

It’s a “are these songs ok for my kid, they have questionable messages or baggage”, dressed up as a what song do you like to see if people truly embarrass themselves by picking something like Jim Crow from Dumbo.

I thought it was an old-timer's "true culture only existed back in my youth and anything since has been strange and bad and decadent".

My opposition to screen time in general (which hasn't held this last year at all) is not primarily due to messages/baggagee.

Actually I genuinely like all the song I listed. Yes a lot of the songs are from my childhood but Ive seen all the other Disney animated movies as well and think these are best. I posted this to see who has good taste.
Any additional discussion is a bonus. (Also if you choose Song of the South you're a racist )

Sorry, read to much into it.

Fun fact, the monkey song was originally to be sung by Louis Armstrong. They dodged a bullet.

I suspect most Polytubbies have no idea who Louis Prima is. He and his band added the call/response causing Disney to change the animation to fit the recording, rather than have them re-record it.

First minute or so. Sums up my general view of Disney.

Not true of Moana at least. I don't really see the problem anyways

No problem with it. Just tropes.

Moana and Frozen are loved by my elder daughter. My pre-school aged daughter isn't a fan of princess movies at all. She prefers How to Train Your Drago, and anything dinosaurs - she recently said her favourite animal is a triceratops.

                      To each their own.

My eldest, who didn't watch much of anything before she was 3, is pretty sensitive and wasn't able to watch How to Train your Dragon two years ago (maybe we could try again). Both girls enjoy Dino Dana. Is there some good other movies with dinosaurs which are not scary?

Everyone wanted to vote for Song of the South but you attacked them because you don't want your child to see non-white people singing and having fun.

The extreme curation of the list makes it useless to me. Lots of greats songs missing. Plus, my daughter is now 33, so I haven't even seen the more recent movies like Frozen and Moana.
