He's the scientist who provides advice based on facts and research. When new facts come to light, he adjusts his thinking and informs us accordingly.
Now please stop being a disingenuous ass.

No masks unless contagious - Fauci said that on Feb. 17, long before the Covid threat was viable. Infections in the USA at that time: 12. TWELVE.
Wear masks - CDC recommendation to wear masks outside the home started in April. It was amplified as our knowledge of how the disease spreads improved.

Dude, it's late September. 200,000 Americans are dead. IF PEOPLE WORE MASKS, AT LEAST 45,000 OF THEM WOULD STILL BE ALIVE.

Stop repeating cherry-picked Hannity talking points while supporting an administration that continues to downplay the reality of this pandemic and, frankly, doesn't give a snit about protecting the American people. Including you.

I you compare our death rates to those of Canada, over 100,000 of them would still be alive.

They didn't want to run out of PPE for health professionals so they told Americans dont bother with masks. Rather than risk panic buying of PPE they lied to us, they could have told us the truth and showed Americans how to make their own masks.

Fauci identifies the liars as "we" - 'the public health community and many people'

And you’re using this to justify that 20% infection rates = herd immunity?????

So you're saying that Trump's obvious lie, that he "downplayed the virus" when he clearly knew how deadly it was, supposedly be he "didn't want to painc people," was just fine. But you demonize Fauci for the entire epidemiological community making a reasonable attempt to reserve PPE for medical professionals? Yeah, that's fair.

I love the way you now hold people you dislike (Fauci, Vindman, Brennan) forever guilty over one past lie, but embrace a Trump administration that is literally built on a never-ending barrage of lies. It's disingenuous, illogical, and kind of pathetic.

He said it at a time when there were 15 cases in the entire US. Literally nowhere outside Wuhan province were people using masks. Promoting the wearing of masks at that point in time would have made both him and the US government a laughingstock. But now we're supposed to distrust everything he says?

Holding Fauci's feet to the fire 7 months later (when he changed his recommendation roughly 5 months ago) is just stupid. Trump told us that the virus would go away, to eat HCL, and claims to have done a great job while 200K Americans have died. Yet you're still swallowing his daily dose of bullsh1t.

So the people at ground zero were wearing masks and our health care professionals didn't consider that a clue about the nature of the bug?

In late February and early March as the COVID-19 outbreak began accelerating in the US, hospitals and health facilities experienced severe shortages of personal protective equipment for healthcare workers. In response, experts like Fauci and the US Surgeon General Jerome Adams
          advised Americans against wearing masks.
The reason for telling us the masks weren't needed was a shortage of PPE and they were trying to stop panic buying by the public. No amount of lipstick will hide the fact they lied to us. Maybe Trump was following the advice of the scientists and now Democrats blame him for the mixed messages about masks.

JRabbit, do you know what would have saved 100,000 of those 200,000 lives? If five democratic governors hadn’t put Covid positive people into nursing homes next to the highest risk elderly people. Like it or not it was individual governors in charge of their states and not the President, When Trump made suggestions at the beginning back in March we even heard arrogant speeches by indignant Democrat governors saying they were in charge and would ignore Trump. Lastly, remember when Trump instituted a travel ban from China and all the democrats lied and falsely claimed it was racist instead demanding everyone go out and celibate Chinese New Year instead ignoring stay at home orders? Hell, human crap stain Nancy Pelosi even declared not going out meant you were some how a racist.

So please spare me your ignorant orange man bad bull**** because it is obvious you are a partisan hack and not an honest ref here.

at the time of the travel ban Biden called it xenophobic bigotry, 2+ months later Biden quietly said Trump was right to restrict travel.

I thought Biden's comments about xenophobia and bigotry weren't about the shutout of China, but about comments like "China virus" and "Kung Flu".

"Biden used the phrase “xenophobic” in reply to a Trump tweet about limiting entry to travelers from China and in which he described the coronavirus as the “Chinese virus.” Biden did not spell out which part of Trump’s tweet was xenophobic."

So your claim is unsubstantiated or at least inaccurate due to omission. The tweet in question started “I always took the China virus...”. Order may not matter but the framing of the statement came in the first few words.

There is also a wider story than the tweet - Trump made numerous statements about China and the virus in derogatory terms. And Biden statements talk about a pattern of behaviour, not one single action.

Where Trump got it wrong with the blocking of China was to not also block Europe and other places as quickly. Heck he even had the UK have an extra week's grace for what appear to be for nothing but political reasons.

By the time anyone got around to issuing a travel ban, it was probably already too late.
Researchers analyzing medical records detected an unexpected jump in respiratory illnesses at UCLA Health facilities at the end of last year.
