Did the stone age end because we ran out of stones?

I dont see any horses pulling carts in the streets anymore. We have trucks. But that does not mean there is a shortage of horses.

metal weapons just worked better. so do trucks.

I had never, in my entire life, imagined that the reason why we have trucks is because we have a shortage of horses.

The stone age did not end because the world ran out of stones, and the oil age will not end because we run out of oil. It ended because bronze tools became cheaper.
