  • Why are virtually all European cars such low quality garbage?

Especially the luxury cars. They are just endless money pits. I am glad I sold my old BMW years ago and now drive a Toyota product.

Watch the video in the OP. It is not just BMW; all of the cars with the worst depreciation, worst quality, and which cost the most to repair are European supposed luxury brands. They just are not worth owning.

If the supposed luxury brands are this crap it is no wonder virtually all of the non-luxury brands from Europe failed out of the US market decades ago.

I think that this is part of the reason for the success of Tesla.

The medium luxury market, which was primarily European (Mercedes, BMW), is the market that Tesla has made real inroads in.

Pffff. I'd take a VW over a chevrolet or ford any day.

(I mean, if I somehow couldn't get an Honda or Toyota)

Partially yes but Tesla can't boast to have superior quality either. As far as I know Europe is filled with beaten Teslas and that is sad that some Model S can cost about 35-40k or less after an accident when a new one is worth 70k+.

Back in the 1970's VW had a good reputation on the US but the recent reputation (as in last 30-40 years) is that quality is poor (most are made in Mexico for the North American market) and they fall apart as they are not as durable of America, Japanese, or even Korean cars. Plus parts and maintenance cost much more than any competitor. Audi is even worse. That is why the value of both brands have the lowest resale value in the US market.

The one saving grace of Tesla is that the number of moving parts is like 1/10th an ICE vehicle. Fewer parts and less complicity means fewer possible things to go wrong.

The roads here in Australia seem dominated by Japanese cars and in the poorer areas numerous Korean cars for people who can not afford Japanese cars.

Toyota seems to be the undisputed leader on our roads.

Absolutely. Everyone knows Audi is in bed with VW, and what about all of those GM brands?
