"Hezbollah, corruption to blame for Beirut explosion, says Lebanese journalist
Lebanese journalist Jerry Maher: The Lebanese political system has given up on confronting Hezbollah, to protect their financial, economic and political gains.Republish this article
(August 6, 2020 / MEMRI) The enormous explosion that flattened the Beirut port in Lebanon on Tuesday was a “massacre” and Hezbollah is the prime suspect, said Lebanese journalist Jerry Maher on Wednesday.
Maher, the CEO of Radio Sawt Beirut International, told Saudi Arabia’s Al Arabiya on Aug. 5 that the Lebanese Shi’ite terror group uses the country’s ports “and all the other Lebanese government facilities” to acquire weaponry.
Hezbollah had been using the Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport for this purpose “for years,” said Maher, as well as the Beirut port.
“Today, nobody but Hezbollah is responsible” for the port blast, said Maher. “The corrupt system that allowed [Hezbollah] to use the Lebanese ports for its own objectives is also responsible,” he added.

The Lebanese political system, said Maher, had given up on confronting Hezbollah, “in order to protect their financial, economic and political gains.”
“Since 2014, it has been forbidden to even say one word to Hezbollah, as if Hezbollah is a religion or a sect not connected to reality or this country,” said Maher.
Those that criticize Hezbollah’s policy are labeled “sectarians,” he added, while anyone that criticizes the group’s acts of terror are “agents,” “terrorists,” “criminals” or “murderers.”
“They banish you from the country, they accuse you of incitement and threaten to kill you,” he said.
Lebanon’s political system, said Maher, had surrendered to Hezbollah, “and unfortunately, today we see the result.”I drank beer. I like beer. I still like beer. ... Do you like beer Senator?

Yes, but regardless of Lebanon's political issues, this is easily accounted for by negligence and incompetence. I prefer to deal in facts rather than speculation. If a full forensic investigation reveals anything else then we can look. But at first inspection this appears to be a large amount of confiscated ammonium nitrate that wasn't disposed of in a timely manner creating a bigger problem (solidification of the salt, contamination, etc.) which made it even more costly to fix and unscrupulous management have decided to ignore it or kick the problem down the road as in a few years it won't be their problem. Why try and devise a complicated conspiracy theory with no foundation when the facts are pretty self-evident. Again, I am willing to revise my opinion in the light of further information but who would this serve? If Hezbollah controlled the port who would levelling it help? And this isn't the first time this has happened due to improper storage and management of ammonium nitrate.

Both the "pieces" you reference are just journalistic hack jobs similar to the stuff you usually post.
They make big claims but provide no real facts except for innuendo and wild ass assumptions.
It's no surprise your fake news sites just repeat what other fake news sites post.Keep on Civin'
