Is it conservative to refuse to cooperate with any oversight?
Is it conservative to refuse to listen to your own intelligence (instead preferring partisan entertainment and the intelligence of the nations recent opponents)?
Is it conservative to tear up previous policies and agreements without the input of experts and the beaucracy (and congress)?
Is it conservative to gain power over the various departments of the executive by preferring acting leaders that serve only at the pleasure of the president rather than official leaders who serve the american people and their departments at the pleasure of the president?
Is it conservative to use your political power as president to undermine and attack your political opponents?
The answer to all of those is no. In some proper sense, this is the least conservative administration in history.

Unlike a lot of progressives I think there needs to a be strongly conservative force or there will be problems at some point.Originally posted by Kidicious View PostI don't think there is a strong conservative movement.
I hope that Kasich, Flake, Romney and others can put one together.
I will have a very hard time trusting it (which is crucial to it being a strongly conservative force) for the next generation, however.

All three have been out of power for 2-4 of the last 6 years.Originally posted by Kidicious View PostThose politicians are all corrupt deep state.
I'm politically conservative but our government is captured by very bad people. So I support everything Trump is doing against those people.
I agree that they are all establishment though. Trump has demonstrated something we should have known, which is that people on the outside who are looking to break things are likely to encourage even more corruption then people on the inside. This is because they don't know what they are doing and need help., and all of the traditional sources of help are unavailable, so the ones who are available are the worst sort of corrupt.

(It doesn't help that Trump is personally extremely corrupt. But I think the above would be a problem if someone like Oprah got elected on an anti-establishment platform too.)Jon Miller-

There's so much corruption now that I don't know how to tell when there wasn't this much. But I trust AG Barr.Originally posted by Jon Miller View Post

AG Barr is one of the most corrupt people in the administration. And was up there for past Republican administrations.
I mean, many of the non-conservative and openly corrupt actions taking by the administration are taken by Barr.

One case in point, Barr's actions to defend Trump and Trump's supporters from justice.
The claim is that it is due to 'corrupt deep state'. But if that is the concern, the correct course of action is not the unilateral action of Barr (which is corrupt) but rather the creation fo Special Counsels and the like who are widely respected and independent of Barr's authority.
Barr's intervention in Roger Stone's case, says Jed Shugerman, was "yet another breach of norms in a pattern with Trump and Barr."
Why 27 Distinguished DC Lawyers Filed a Complaint with Bar Association Against Attorney General BarrNon-partisan group files an ethics complaint with the DC Bar Association against Attorney General William Barr.
By firing the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, Barr’s effort to protect Trump further bulldozes the norms of the Department of Justice.
William Barr's Justice Department lowered the prison sentence recommendation for Roger Stone, a longtime ally of President Trump, in a move that's led to accusations of political interference.

BTW, a test for Biden (if he wins) is if he resists the calls to have his AG investigate Trump or the Trump administration.
The only way to do things properly (Trump, Barr, etc) is to have a Special Counsel.

Well today we have news of a former FBI lawyer pleading guilty. Corrupt FBI agents are much more important than Roger Stone. Flynn is innocent in my opinion and was targeted by corrupt officials.Originally posted by Jon Miller View PostOne case in point, Barr's actions to defend Trump and Trump's supporters from justice.

NYPD union endorsed Trump. AOC is outraged.
"METROAOC blasts NYPD union’s endorsement of Trump

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-CortezJames Messerschmidt
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Queens) thinks the NYPD union endorsement of President Trump is inappropriate.
“NYPD union endorsed Trump. I’m sure this is part of their neighborhood outreach plan,” she said. “Also, does anyone else see a potential problem with police unions — enforcement arms of the state with lethal weapons — promoting ‘preferred’ candidates for office or is that just me?”

NYPD union endorses Trump: 'We need your strong voice across the country'
In his announcement Friday, union boss Pat Lynch acknowledged it was almost unheard of for the PBA to endorse for President of the United States, but said current circumstances required it.
“I have 36 years on this job … I cannot remember when we have ever endorsed for the office of President of the United States until now,” Lynch said to cheers from his ranks. “That’s how important this is, Mr. President, we’re fighting for our lives out there. We don’t want this to spread to the rest of the country. We need your strong voice across the country.”
President Trump, who has long touted his “law and order” bonafides, returned the favor on Twitter.
“Thank you to the great Pat Lynch & the @NYCPBA. I will never let you down!” Trump said in a tweet. “I have deeply and profoundly admired the brave men and women of the #NYPD for my entire life. New York’s Finest are truly the best of the best.”
