Thats a lot of reading, I'll be watching for Aaron Mate's analysis, he got an Izzy for his reporting on RussiaGate. From what I've seen of him so far Russian troll farms were producing click bait with a majority coming after the election and was unrelated.Comment

2. This whole line of inquiry is an embarrassing chimera and should be abandoned. Leaving aside the broader question of how low-rent Russian spook hirelings are better at persuading Americans than other Americans are--and how that should concern us, if true--consider the numbers.
10.4 million tweets total over two years sounds like a lot, but cursory searching indicates that there are probably about 6k tweets per second, adding up to two hundred billion per year. Assuming roughly five million tweets in one year, this means that, uh, a little under three thousandths of a percent of Twitter activity may have been due to malign troll influence. Bearing in mind that Twitter users are younger and therefore significantly more liberal on average than the general population, this is an utterly insignificant amount of output even if all of it was uncommonly persuasive (for wads of a few characters [possibly with video or image attachments] vomited by ESL users onto a medium famous for creating vicious online slapfights and dogpiles).
Russians made 116K Instagram posts over two years? Instagram does around a hundred million a day. You can do the math on that one. Having a slightly harder time digging up FB stats and there's a limit to how much effort I'm willing to invest in this silliness. Hopefully you get the point. I'll let somebody else dig up the number of pro-Hillary tweets and such, if they feel like it.
3. The only feasible way to stop the free flow of information on the internet is to adopt the Chinese model. Let's not.
