  • What is the point of a "Straight Pride March"?

I read of a Straight Pride March in a US city recently with hundreds of marchers and hundreds of protesters.

I can not see the point of such a march.

I can not see the point of participating.

I can not see the point of protesting about such a pointless event.

Is there any point to anythinig about this?

Now I am wondering if there is any point to this thread.

Well I know that some lesbian feminists try to shame heterosexual feminists into being lesbian to fight the Patriarchy. But besides that idk.

Gay people are marginalized, straight people are not

I get that it's stupid (so is gay pride imo), but it's not "like white pride." They aren't straight seperatists.

I don't know, there is a lot of discrimination against people who have children/focused on children. Then usually ends up hurting women... but still. And children is not only a straight issue, of course.

However, gay pride really was a combination of a culture with a sexual orientation. With the extension of marriage to homosexual relationships there may be a separation of the culture from the sexual orientation.

So what is 'straight pride' celebrating? 50s gender norms? Will there be floats with women in the kitchen, >3 children and the father absent or sitting down for a smoke/drink? That wouldn't include my family.

If it is 'procreation pride' then of course plenty of gay people would be included.

What is it called, "cisgendered privilege?" Something like that. It's not that you are discriminated against like gay people are. It's that if you don't "check your privilege" then woke people don't like you. They might cause you some trouble. It's getting ridiculous. Now you have to rid yourself of whiteness. I think that is more of what people don't like. I think that kind of thing is motivating this. It's not traditionalism. It's anti-wokeism.

Having kids is disadvantageous because of Capitalism, it's not that people are bigoted against people who have kids (aside from single mothers, who are looked down upon by some).

Yeah, you just can't talk about how having kids is good because of transwomen and stuff like that. That's just certain circles of course, like if you are in the Democratic Socialists of America. But people see stuff on media and other places and they think it's widespread.

The 'straight pride' march seemed to be a march in favor of racism, fascism and oppression. I would have joined the protestors.

Yeah, a real 'straight pride' march would be primarily about women...

It is a known thing that if you have children or express interest in having children and are a woman looking for a job, a lot of employers have reservations.

If you take time to focus on the children or want to take parental leave as a father (in the US), it can significantly harm your career.

Yes, it is related to 'Capitalism' but capitalism and culture in the West are closely tied together. For another way to approach things within the general capitalism umbrella, look at nordic countries.
