Or maybe lots o fhis stunts are just PR gags to distract from the not-so shiny aspects of the Trump rule, like just recently the push to detain undoc'ed kids for unspecified amounts of time, or that the recent market moves weren't so great.

Meh, Danes are not really angry, just kind of "WTF"'ish.

While it's true that the danish royalty invited the american president for a visit, that only happens if such an american president says it wouldn't mind if an invitement happens, so Trump asked for it and got it and all was happy because diplomatic protocol had done what it's supposed to do.

Then Trump said something about buying Greenland - that's not that weird - the Chinese could easily offer $100 miil for Alaska and I guess that Trump would just consider that yet another real estate deal and accept it. After all it's a bunch of cash in the treasury and just some 700.000 people that need to learn chinese - no problem. After all, Alaska is just some property that US bought from Russia back in 1867, so why not sell it again ?

Now, the danish people has respect for the american presidency and assume the americans has the same for the danish system and that is all good.

Though, when the current president Erdoganize the american presidency, it gets a bit complicated.

It's quite weird when Trump think that what he consider a "real estate deal" he get offended when the danish prime minister considers the proposal an absurd thing even to think. "An insult to americans" to say such a thing - maybe Trump should consider his proposal as an insult to both danes and greenlanders.

Gets even better when the Trump says that danes aren't paying enough for the military - quite sad considering we have more or less average number of losses as the americans in Afghanistan etc. even sadder considering the high praise US army has for danish soldiers same place.

I don't think it's wrong to say that Trump is an inmate in a kindergarten and not as staff.

At least the american ambassador in Denmark and the US foreign minister didn't know about the Trumpisms and try to ease the idiocy.

Alaska is a state, and red. Maybe you will make an offer for Puerto Rico.

But your prime minister should not call proposals absurd. You must be respectful or you can't claim to be diplomatic.

She was just "telling it like it is", like when Trump calls other countries "****holes", right?

Are you saying Trump might bomb Denmark because his feelings were hurt...?

Who cares ? The american president can easily do a real estate sale if he wants. The locals can either get chinese citienship or get detained in american refugee camps. No problem.

No offense, but that is the proper respectful diplomatic response to an obviously absurd proposal
