The second shooter had Trump Derangement Syndrome. Can't tell if that was his motive, but he basically had a few (or Uncle Sparky) world view. We do need to talk about social media because people like that get more rage bait on social media than people on the right.
Also, the second shooter had more of a typical Democrat world view. People like that get rewarded for their hatred, unlike the first shooter that was likely isolated politically and socially.I drank beer. I like beer. I still like beer. ... Do you like beer Senator?

There must be a reason.
It is guns and an uncaring society.
I remember a video about gun owners in Switzerland, a country that is in the top 5 for gun ownership per capita.
What struck me was the answers to the question of "why do you have/own a(so many) gun(s)?".
The swiss answers where about fun, sport, collection, history, they liked guns. Not a single one was about protection of self or defense of their rights or liberty.
The US number one answer to why they own guns is protection against evil people, fight for your rights and fight for your freedom.
This means the US gun owner sees his gun as a perfectly ok tool when he feels threatens by whatever evil he perceives. And the whole US culture, speech about gun, gives him the justification to use his gun for that purpose.
When an insane USian feels threatens by foreigners, it is his right, if not his duty to fight for what he believes in. And that include shooting those he thinks wronged him.
In the Swiss mind, guns are not perceived as tools for your safety or your freedom. They are just tools for sport, for fun, to be used with care and responsibly.
This means even an insane Swiss is not tempted and is never justified to use them when he feels himself or his rights threaten.
The US need to stop the unconscious message of guns being the ultimate tools to protect their life and freedom. It is a very dangerous message to send to insane people. The books that the world calls immoral are the books that show the world its own shame. Oscar Wilde.

My point is tt's in the perception of what constitute murder and what constitute rightful self-defence. If you are not mentally stable, those two concepts might be fuzzy. If the society message has been that guns are the best tools for self-defence (and are perfectly accepted as such by the general consensus), then someone who has difficulties to differentiate between murder and self-defence will be perfectly ok to use them in what he perceives as self-defence.
Stop thinking of guns as the number one tool for self-defence or defence of rights. Some minds are not able to manage that. The books that the world calls immoral are the books that show the world its own shame. Oscar Wilde.
