  • I gotta upgrade my pc, suggestions?

I'm barely hanging on with my old pc, browser and internet connection. I'd like to keep my current pc cuz it has games I still play but I need to upgrade to another OS since XP is suffering now that firefox stopped supporting it. I suppose I could DL a different browser that still supports it but I'm at the point I just want to replace it all. So I need a pc with wifi cuz my provider (I sound like one of the Galls in Star Trek) wants to sell me their newer device and I cant wire into it, gotta be a wifi connection and I'm not happy. Might replace them too, how is At&t? Sprint's been okay I guess, but $150 for their wifi only connector has me reconsidering.

Maybe I should just shop on Amazon, local stores dont have much of a selection but they can usually order stuff.

Your main problem is that you will only be able to install Windows 10 and your old XP games have a decent chance of being incompatible. You will probably want to buy an older graphics card to maintain backwards compatibility as much as possible.

What other internet options do you have? there are cheap laptops that can still be hardwired. I'm sure the cheapest one is better than your current one.
You could also look at refurbished machines that still has win7 on it. But at this point 10 is probably a better choice moving forward.

I have 2 options for internet, cell phone tower and I thought about switching to my TV service thru a satellite dish. I can probably get a small discount if I get it all thru At&t but they raised their rates to help cover the loss of customers with the end of GoT. I think a cheap laptop for the internet will solve most of my problems.

If most of what you do is just surfing then a cheap laptop is probably the way to go.

Why not just buy a new pc and run your old games in dos box or what ever a windows equivalent would be?

As for ISPs I have AT&T and their service seems fast enough for me though I hear their network is a real hodgepodge all over the country as the company built up its network by buying a whole lot of smaller independent ISPs. Worse, the company is really slow to upgrade these old systems unless there is a competitor in the area who forces them to spend the money tp stay competitive. So everything kind of depnds on location.
