  • Poor St. Louis can't get a break.

Have you seen a lot of posts about St. Louis-style food today? It’s not a very appetizing sight, to say the least. But it’s damn funny if you know how it all got started.

I can't help but feel some of these jokes are well deserved but any publicity is good publicity, right?

St. Louis is the "Back Door" To The East.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I spoke to soon! It seems St. Louis has gotten gotten a break as Burger King has announced St. Louis will be their testing location where they will test market the new Impossible Burger. It is a vegetarian burger that is supposed to taste so much like real meat that people won't know the difference.

Will Mad Monk take one for the team and taste test the new BK Impossible Burger?

I have already tasted impossible burgers at restaurants in the San Francisco area. While they are pretty good, u can tell the difference between them and real burgers. However, since fast food burgers are not that great, the difference may be small enough.

St Louis is losing their Steak & Shake locations at least for a while.

Not the same, but a Shake Shack opened near me. I will try to check it out sometime this month.

I found Shake Shack to only be ok and way over priced for what you get. I would rather go to Fuddruckers to get a bigger just as fresh burger for $5 less.

                Let me get this straight.

You want me to drive the four hour (optimistically) trip to St. Louis, the friggin' bend over and take it BACKDOOR TO THE EAST, on lumpy-bumpy Route 70, the road they could film a new Road Warrior movie on because Mo won't spend on decent road repair, to try a veggie burger to satisfy your curiosity?

                IS THAT IT???

I honestly thought you lived in St Louis and didn't know you were four hours away. Still, it sounds like it would be quite the adventure plus we'd learn about this Impossible Burger. You know you want to...

Ok, I got that wrong. I should have known better and I guess there is no excuse for mixing up Kansas City and St. Louis. Sorry.

At least we have the review from Thrillist.

S'all right, though that is even worse than mixing up Kansas City and Kansas City.
