I like mayonnaise as much as the next man, it is lovely on a sandwich, but I have noticed the Russians here in America put mayo on just about EVERYTHING! Is this just Russians in America who do this or do regular Russians in Russia also have a strage desire to put mayonnaise on just about everything they eat? Inquiring minds want to know.
Today, a friend of mine invited my girlfriend and I over for dinner and she made... Wait for it... pasta, covered in mayo with canned tuna. It didn't taste bad but it wasn't exactly good either. If I was Italian I might coneider it an affront to my nation's cuisine but as I am not down the gullet it went. The young lady explained that in Russia people really like mayonnaise and it seems they have a lot of... (Inventive?) Unusual uses for it. To each his own, I guess.
“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”
I have a Russian friend and when we he had just started his professor position and I was finishing my first postdoc I visited him for a few weeks. We often had bread with salad. Salad was a bunch of the cheapest fatty graded cheese, garlic and mayonnaise. I am not sure why he called it salad.

I guess it's true only for American Russians.
There is no any mayonnaise cult here.
Personally I don't use it at all, 'cause it's a bad food.
It's pure fat!
I use mayonnaise only for my favorite salad: tomatoes+cheese+garlic+sausage= perfection if you make a right proportion of ingredients.

There is no any cult of mayonnaise here. Really! I don't know where she got that belief.

I have a girlfriend from Panama and we have been seeing each other off and on over the last two years. Two weeks ago she moved her so we could be in the same city. It has been an adjustment as she has an eight year old son.

What is it with white folks and mayonnaise?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
I am not delusional! Now if you'll excuse me, i'm gonna go dance with the purple wombat who's playing show-tunes in my coffee cup!
