    Dumb. So dumb.

The EU is an antidemocratic and authoritarian regime and the sooner it is destroyed the better.

Brexit has been a total disaster. And no, the EU hasn't been antidemocratic or authoritarian.

I won't give the UK long before they reverse course. Their economy is falling apart from the exit. Theresa May isn't doing so well politically either. I'm fine with people doing stupid things and making stupid decisions in the voting booth. It will lead to self inflicted pain and lessons learned. Brexit has been as much of a disaster as Donald Trump.

For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

While it has its faults and they are many, none of the 2 attributes you mentioned can be used to describe the EU.
So lay of the populist cool aid and try to read a bit on how the EU really works...

Of course, Muricans seem to be threatened easily these days so that might impair your ability to see things the way they are...

If the EU commission was made of elected commissioners, the whole undemocratic argument would fall apart. The other keybranches are elected (national) ministers, elected MEPs, or judges (which are not usually elected positions at any rate).
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

The good thing about the EU is that it can be a lot of different things at the same time. Depending who you ask it's:

            - a centralist, oppressive superstate/the evil Galactic Empire
            - weak, decadent and disunited
            - too communist/leftist/liberal/whatever
            - too capitalist/neoliberal/whatever
            - the AntiChrist (though sometimes/simultaneously sharing that with Obama or Godknowswho)
            - having too many or too few regulations

...and probably a whole lot of other things that escape me at the moment.

The EU is undemocratic by some aspects of its decision making processes but the "unelected bureaucrats" is not really true. Commissioners are proposed by their respective national governmetns who are all democratically elected. Actually its not the commissioners who are the problem as somenow brexited UK conspiracy thepory would have you believe but the council of ministers which acts in an undemocratic behind closed doors way. Its members are 100% democratically elected but its FUNCTIONING is opaque (I used a difficult word in enlgish, I want a beer)

the supranational institutions which are the driving force of the EU and indeed represent all of the EU is the frecking commission. Period. However the council of ministers has been given so much poweah because deep at heart the process is still driven nationally. If europarliement and other supranational bodies were given more autonomy in the decision making processes that would increase direct democratic legitimacy. It would also make the contruct more unstable. The council of ministers can be compared to an "enlightened monarch" which is however made up of comp-lertely democratic but still national governments. The commission is the one true supra national european body. PERIOD. the other institutions are a basis for resolving national dipsutes amicably. Why do you think there has not been a european war for generations after generations? Because we talk untill our balls are busted and we are dead over issues on a structural way that has in its core attribute the surrender of part of the national sovereignity, Busted balls and receded national sovereignity = peace in europe
