Sure, convection is occurring when hot air moves toward or away from you, but it's the thermal conductivity of your skin/clothes that determines how much heat you absorb and consequently feel.
Well, as I mentioned in the 2nd posting in this thread ...with regards to Bedouin clothes it actually is convection.
Which is why for them it doesn't matter all too much whether they wear dark clothes or light ones
