So... More information about the Russian military unit which crossed the deconfliction line and attacked a US/UK/SDF base. The Euphrates river was the deconfliction line, west of it was Syrian government/Russian/Iranian held territory while east of it was US/UK/Kurdish SDF held territory. In the run up to the fight the US warned the Russians not less than five times that they were being observed and that no aggression would be tolerated up to and including just one gour before the engagement where the Russian column was individually warned not to cross the river.

Of course, the Russians ignored the warning and went accross anyway where they then set up artillery and began to shell the American base. Their fate was then sealed and they were not going to be allowed back accross the river into a safe zone. The US forces responded with overwelming artillery and air support. First ground attack bombers to knock out the armored vehicles then with helicopters to mop up what was left. The Russians had a battalion sized force (300 to 500 soldiers) and approximately 300 of rhem got killed that day. The survivors tried to head west back accross the Euphrates vut got continually straffed by US fight bombers until all vehicles were knocked out and the few survivors had to flee on foot. We now know Russia fighters responded to the urgent calls for air support from the dying men but the US ibformed them if they engaged they would ve shot down and we know NATO had 15 to one air superiority at that time so the Russian backed down and left their men to die. This proves Putin is a liar when he claims he knew nothing about this engagement because Russia planes were flying there but I imagine it is hard to explain you ordered men to attack yet did not support them.

F-22s escorted the Russian planes back to base. The Russians knew if they farted or displeased the Americans in any way their planes would be shot down so they tucked tail and ran.

In response to this engagement (where Russian forces crossed the deconfliction line and attacked a US base only to get annihilated) the Russians have now sent experimental SU-57 aircraft. The planes are much more modern than the usual Russian junk but no where close to as advanced as western planes nor is it armed with anything as good as the west has. In theater NATO also has a 45 to 1 advantage in aircraft so the Russians are not a threat though, on their side of the deconfliction line, they can operate unopposed thus greatly helping the Syrian dictator's forces.

Personally, I would love to see a F-22 curb stomp a SU-57. I think that would be a great show of who is top dog but the reality is there will not be one F-22 fighting one SU-57. There will be dozens of NATO planes fighting one or two SU-57s which stand no chance at all. Hell, if it really came down to it the Isrealis would get involved and they alone have ma y times the planes the Russians have in theater.
