Interesting how the link to the article about depression is started by the word: money. Irony perhaps?

I dunno. I always end up laughing when I take depression tests. The thing about depression is that it doesn't feel like a set of symptoms; it feels like an overwhelming, undeniable, inescapable truth about the world and you. So reading off "poor sleep and appetite, lack of motivation, loss of joy..." seems a thousand miles away from me and my depression. The thought that the two are in any way comparable is, well, laughable. Which means, suuuure, maybe people who are "depressed" can be treated by therapy and drugs, but what I've got, nope, no way, this is just the way it is until I die.

Clearly, I don't really think this way now, and I have been able to successfully treat/manage depression. But in the thick of it, those tests never did anything more than give me a moment's amusement. They didn't help. YMMV, of course.

I'll bow to the person with more experience on the matter. It's rarely ever been an issue for me so I don't understand it.
For me it's always been "oh well, **** happens and you have to move on"

                    thanks

I found out it's not just about keeping optimal weight. it has replaced the "buzz" of smoking to some degree.

Another bad effect of stopping smoking is that the body has grown five times more resilient (including to alcohol) which means that it needs more to have a pleasantly devastating effect.
the answer to that is to quit binge drinking too of course

When I drank it just increased the urge to smoke, so I laid off heavy drinking for a few months till I got over the hump.

Is the pharmaceutical industry paying them to do this?

Chantix worked for me. But am not getting compensation for posting that.
Haven't had a cigarette in close to 10 years after smoking for almost 40 years.

Given that antidepressants are prescription drugs, I wouldn't view it as a huge deal. It's not like somebody's going to say, "Hey, this test says it's depression! I'ma go buy me some Prozac right now!" You've still got to go to a medical professional and get a diagnosis and prescription. Now, when drug companies start serenading the doctors (and they do), that gets a bit more problematic.
