It's healthier and is growing in use.

      Thanks Slowwie

I got one I'm trying to quit.

So far I haven't smoken a single cigarette today.

It feels like my body is getting rejuvenated.

The nicotine from the e-cig is (hm how do you say it in enligh) hiiiiiiiiiigh

        I've been considering it.

I've never smoked, so no. It's slowly growing in popularity over here, although it is still very rare to see them on the street. At least in the places I usually frequent.

While they are considered healthier, there have been reports of them exploding

Yeah, it's a "healthier" way to poison yourself with nicotine.

I wish my 40 year experiment with nicotine had been without all those extra bad add-ons

But in all fairness, e-cigarettes are still in their infancy so any additional long term dangers may not be known yet.

Thank you all for your input.

Well, it's three days now, not one cigarette lit. And it' s been easy.

I do get something like sweating? maybe a bit "jumpy" and it must be the gradual nicotine diminishment.
I also feel must quicker and lighter (must be the more oxygen absorbed by the muscles instead of carbon monoxide) I can breath deeper (that is single handendly the best effect) and I think something has changed to my skin, it's kind of smoother. Also the tongue is more sensitive.

                  I'd definitely reccomend it.
But be sure to get a e-cig (a mod) that can be customized. That is that you can change the voltage and change the coil to different ohms and the air flow.

It took some used to but now I have found a setting on the e-cig something that suits me.

And don't be shy about getting nocotine liquids that correspond to your actual number of cigs smoked per day.

The point is to gradually lower it to getting liquids with less nicotine and eventually zero nicotine. And then quit. All together.

Also be sure to get the flavour that you like (the one you smoke now. is it tobacco? mint? etc)

                  Great invention

It's now been 5 days without cigarettes (I did a pack a day)

The first three days were tough WITH physical pain.

Now that's gone. There is no pain. I'm p[hysically detoxed or at least fell down on very low levels of nicotine.

I also saw that e-cig completely takes away the "cigs out of habit" thing. That's when you don't "need" to smoke (nicotine is adequate in your bloodstream) but you do it out of habit (repetitive consoling gestures/motives) OR (that's extremely important) triggers. That's when something happens and you feel like lighting up, or in this case puff the e-cig

Now that you're done away with the cigs out of habit and not out of nicotine need, we come to the triggers.

                    These are ALL psychological.

I break it down to three groups:

_when things don't go your way or your pissed with something. TRIGGER
_ when you feel you lose control of a situation. TRIGGER
_ (3rd one and very important) when you need to congratulate yourself for something well done. TRIGGER

The toughest to do away with is 2 followed by 3 followed by 1

The desire to actually quit is the biggest thing. I tried many times but didn't finally succeed until I really wanted to. I'll give a bit of side credit to the Chantix.

I'll add one more trigger for you. Drinking. That was the toughest one for me.

I still smoke in my dreams, and I think about it quite a bit. But it's been close to 10 years now, so I'm feeling better about it.

Yup, thanks for pointing this out to me.
I feel like drinking is going to be a test because when drinking you lower control and also your determination maybe also lowers.

I've been plunging myself in different (moderately) stress inducing situations to see how I handle it, smoke free. From heavy work load to "arguing" with the SO.

                          So far so good.

The motivational factor I think is the death of the father of my best friend. It was 100% smoke related and it chopped off years and years from his life.

Yeah, that sounds like good motivation. I hope it's enough. And wish you all the self control you can muster. It's a daily fight.

Thanks. I have to say I don't find it particularly hard though. It's like a "click" has happened in the mind and smoking has been discarded. Of course I'm not so dumb to believe it is actually so easy. You do have to be on your toes.
Then there are other tricks. Pulling air on a straw, increase acidic intake and avoid fats. Acidics are antagonists of smoking for some reason. They lower the desire. I have been drinking freshly squeezed orange juices by the bucket for example. Foods with fats/ saturated fats etc entice smoking. It's just the way it is according to the doctors.
I'm eating fats right now to test my resolve. So far all good.

The lightness and quickness of the body and the lungs this has brought is very "intoxicating" btw
