After 44 years of ESC (with 39 participations and 3 wins) Israel (probably) won't take part anymore.
The israeli state TV station which was part of the EBU (and theeore enabled Israel to take part in the ESC) closes down its doors on order o the israeli parliament (and is supposed to get replaced by a "cheaper" TV station)
So, unless another TV station steps in and becomes part of the EBU, an almost half century history of Israel and the ESC has come to an end

Eurovision Song Contest (ESC)
It is a large song contest among all countries of the european broadcasting union (EBU).
Aside from (naturally) most countries in europe (including the former soviet republics) it also has Israel as member (since 44 years and despite not being in europe) and (as associated member) Australia.

But unfortunately the israeli state TV that is the member of the EBU gets disbanded on order of the israeli parliament (too expensive) and gets replaced b a new founded TV station.
and therefore its membership in the EBU gets automatically canceled so, after 44 years participation in the ESC (as was announced by the israeli jury in the ESC yesterday)

Fortunately meanwhile better news have turned up.
Obviously the new israeli TV broadcaster will also apply for EBU membership, so israels future in the ESC is secured

I watched the eurovision.

UK must be relieved. In probably the first time in history it didn't get zero points (australia voted for it )

Germany did abysmally (we don't like you ) (although the girl was hot. dues go where dues are worth)

Austrlia was shiiiiiiiiit. It got high in the commissions vote, zero from the european people. **** off to your kangooroos. We are voting 12 for cyprus and it 12 for us, we don't need another couple.



Bulgaria did amazingly good

Aye ... Jury and voters were very mean to poor Levina.
Thankfully enough the participants of UK, Belgium, Moldova and Austria after the show went over to Levina to comfort her and express their lack of understanding, that Jury and voters didn't give Levina more points.
Well, at least we are not last (like in the years before), thanks to the irish jury and the swiss voters ... some people here in germany, me included, already count this as a success

But it was totally not understandable that he cried for only getting 2nd place ... he reminded me of a teachers pet who cries because he just gets an A- instead of an A or A+

What made the old broadcaster so expensive and why will the new one be cheaper? Was it really due to expense or is this a political party monkeying with the media and trying to get rid of a media outlet that called them out on their BS?

She definitely was/is hot
And the mentoring by Stefan Raab (who was/is not only a TV professional but also an ESC veteran himself) also helped a lot in order to make her well known even before the ESC started

According to alll that I know the old Broadccaster offered a full program, with Talkshows, TV series, movies, news and the like.
Whereas the new Broadcaster will only offer a vastly reduced TV program, in order to keep the cost low (for example no movies or self produced Documentaries)

It's the old neoliberal dogma to try and kill all state things and leave the incompetent private channels fill their citizenry's minds with cheap american ****, control their consciousness and make them buy things while wealth amases to the hands of the few.

It was tried here once. The left killed the right wing.

We now again have full quality programs that don't depend on the lowest monkey mind IQ of 10 of the free markets.
It was indeed streamlined though because there was waste.
