They pelt her with eggs?! Wow! This is how women are treated for standing up against the establishment? Very sick and bad.

Why is gender such an obsession with you Kid? Why didn't you ask "This is how politicians are treated...?"

They are of the same political party, but they are of different generations.
Marion is a young deputy and made recently a speech where she consider emulating Trump and withdrawing state intervention in abortions. That speech was tailored for and was made in front of a conservative catholic audience.
Marine, who is candidate for the presidency did disavow her young niece and clearly stated that she (Marine) has no political intention to modify anything on abortion or any family law.

The FN political electorate is diverse and includes christian religious conservatives. Sometimes FN representatives make declaration to appeal to conservatists concern. But Marine, knows that if it appeals to some fringe of her party, it might frighten some other, new voters. So I think that feminism is a topic she avoids by all means. It is not very high in their political agenda either. There is little potential political gain to bring the topic on the table and much to lose.

Part of the left tries to scare people by portraying her as anti woman, but it doesn't really catch as she is obviously female. It was easy to portray the FN of her father as 'patriarchal' a party with some old white guy as president. But today, you cannot even portray her as being manipulated by her father as she even manage to get him, founder of the party, kicked out.

I think it is also a smart move as no woman who got the first chair in their respective country (Golda Meir, M Tatcher, A Merkel, ...) did so by bringing up feminism. IMHO that was the biggest mistake of Hilary Clinton. You can be elected on feminism issues at some local political position, not when you aim for the top one.

Thanks. I didn't know there was resistance to the feminist agenda. I just figured that she was a more sane kind of feminist.

IDK if Hillary is making a mistake by blaming her loss on misogyny, but I don't think the left can help themselves anymore.

This is a classic example of a Kid thread
“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Some documents were leaked about Macron and the French government has blocked them. Ministry of Truth?

When even US media is so biased that they call Macron a "youthful centrist" and Le Pen "far right" you know there is a problem. I think they have to say that because the French government tells them what to say.

Le Pen is a socialist and a leftist here in the US with the exception of the immigration issue. Calling here far-right in the US is sick and bad.

Actually, I am dumb enough to bite.

I would like to say she is an anti-feminist because she is against feminists. *

                            * I don't actually know if that is a fact or an alternative fact, if the distinction matters.

Several of Le Pen's party (which she quickly left pro forma recently) guys have probs with telling stuff about the Holocaust. Marine herself has - at least - a prob with being honest about France's role in it.

That's all I'd need to know to decide between her and Macron (which I fortunately do not have to).
