  • Where's my X?

You were promised a flying car. You didn't get one. But that was probably a stupid promise anyway. What futuristic technology do you wish existed today, especially one you thought might already be in place by 2017? How would you use this technology? How would it change the world? Why isn't it it here yet? You may answer some, none, or all of these questions. There are no right answers. You won't be graded. There is no future, only the eternal now.

We were promised an extinction level event in 2012 and it didn't happen... on time ...

Trump was elected 4 years late!

Trump is not a technology, unless you're talking about his hair.

        We had a thanks function.

Aeson took away the thanks function.

        Things are going downhill.

          Just wait. Extinction will come.

As for tech ... personal robots were a big thing in the 80's. 2017 should have been long enough for the robot that gets you a drink from the fridge to also be able to give blowjobs.

It would be nice to have stuff that does not require care, maintenance, cleaning etc.

Like self-cleaning clothes, shoes, carpets. Computer displays/or whateverstandingaround with some anti-dust mechanism.

Also clothes that automatically resize for optimal fit, but still look like normal clothes (not like airbags)

I have no idea if that requires biotech, nanobots or pure magic.

The future is here now. Boston Dynamics, right?
It's awesome and scary at the same time. More awesome than scary actually. We can control this sh!t, right?
As an engineer, I could assure you that one day we wouldn't control a sh!t. The AI will outsmart us one day. Damn, I'm a such a follower of Apocalypse!

We were promised commercial flights to the moon. Getting closer on this one. Maybe next year, around the moon at least

Well, actual reality is also sh1t, which would seem to indicate that virtual reality is actually just about perfect.

My missing technology: teleportation. Even if it was limited to inanimate objects, that would be awesome.

Replicators would be nice too, but in our unStarTrekkish world there would be probably a large degree of abuse (Like some terror guy replicating nukes or somesuch)

Personally I'd like to have food replicators that make still awesome meals (as opposed to bad instant stuff). I can do some nice stuff on my own, but I'm certainly not a master in cooking

We're not going to have regular, everyday access to space until we have another way than launching to get there, I think. Also a reason.
