I'm actually not sure which jokes you are talking about. Jesus said that you must be born again to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. Nicodemus thought he meant literally. He didn't get it. I think that was hyperbole because He was saying that you must believe in Him to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven and I don't think that it happens exactly like being born again.
