  • If everything gets done by computers/robots....

...should we not delegate politics/governance to them? We'd probably need some body of human errrmm 'limiters' working out guidelines (common good and whatnot-oriented) to not let the machines turn all Skynet on humanity, but since machines are soon better in everything so why not in politics???

    Discuss.

Didn't work all too well in Buck Rogers.
They still needed too much assistance from humans
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."

The goal of politicians is to screw over the most number of people while still being able to hold office. Good politicians are able to do horrible things and still hold office due to how adept they are at politics. Bad politicians may accidentally do something good for people, and can't get away with doing too much to harm us before we catch on and throw them out.

So we want politicians who are less competent, not better ones. This is why we never want robot politicians!

Politics should still be human. But technical implementation might be by robots.

For example if the majority of the people express their desire for a communist utopia. Robots will try and implement the best possible communist utopia.

I don't think their goal is to screw people over, it's to personally profit big time. The people getting screwed over is just collateral damage.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

But if machines that are objectively superior to humans (in matters of politics/government/creating good futures) decide that going Skynet on us is what's best, who are we to disagree?

As TNG demonstrated with Data benevolent machines are way superior over evilbots

Data spent seven seasons and several awful movies trying to become more human. What does he know about the robot utopia?

But...but...he sacrificed himself for the good of mankind in one of those movies. If the robotopia was a superior thing he'd have computed it already and let the humans die instead.

Politics is the art of the possible, thus the hardest activity for robots to master. That's where humans touch infinity, and the robots will be selecting between: abort, retry, fail, after they get stuck in the infinite loop of human political contradiction masters.

In the end, once everything else is done by robots, the only activity remaining will be politics and therefore we will all be politicians.

You would not want to remove yourself, would you?

                        Robotic logic 101

If we abort humanity there is no further concern for retry or fail.

                        Abort humanity !

No further problems remain to resolve.

It's not hard to imagine a politician making a law that robots have to fix all the problems ...
