A private TV station checked the name of those arrested in the portland riots with voters in the Oregon registries and found that more than 60% of the persons arrested didn't turn up in any voting registers

That may mean that some of those "protesters" are really just people looking to cause mayhem ... not politically motivated. Of course those types are more likely to do something warranting arrest, so would be over-represented in an arrest based sample. This is not a random sampling of protesters after all, so it doesn't necessarily mean much in regards to the larger population of protesters.

Hm ... I guess the same thing was thought the people who didn't vote in the Brexit-Voting ... and then were totally surprised when the Pro-Brexit-Crowd won.
IIRC in the US election there also were surprises ... i.e. states that were predicted to be Clinton, but turned out Trump ... like Pennsylvania

Therefore IMHO there is no justification to protest any election results if you didn't vote in the election for yourself. Not even if the predictions seem to indicate a sure win for your candidate (not even if the predictions for your state turned out to be true, despite you not voting)
