It's crucial to be prepared for the right type of desaster/doomsday. Sure, could be we're suprised by nuclear WW III, but if we get a zombie apocalypse instead stockpiling anti-radiation meds seems a rather silly move...just saying.

BK, no problemo. It is quite the dizzying spin this has taken. If it was true, you would not hear from me anymore. Is it worrying? Yes and no. It is always worrying and no, because it really means nothing out of the ordinary. Russia does have the right, just like any other country, to exercise within its own borders, move troops, bring in heavy stuff, too. Sometimes it is to show abilitie to your own nation as well, as in we got this stuff should it happen. Look at it from their perspective, where does the threat come from? West. China is nto going to attack Russia. West is not likely to attack either, but NATO has been expanding a lot, right to the borders and has an advantage globally. Not in Europe, but in global terms. So what are you going to do? The logical move is to show you are moving your troops to mitigate the most visible threat.
The way I see it, they are doing an excellent job. We keep asking where they are going to go next. Why? As a major nation with interests both geopolitical and financial, they're doing what every other major nation is doing. No one is asking about Ukraine anymore. Ukraine is a proxy war, and so is Libya. It takes two (or more) to tango. The West has lost initiative and momentum long time ago. I believe the difference is law. Russia has fairly lax laws when it comes to action taken by the leadership whereas the West keeps breaking its laws. If we were fair, we'd see that we do exactly the same thing, just call it different. Just saying it does not make Russia worse. And since I don't care about wars that much, I'd rather see cooperation in science. Can we (globally) really afford not join forces in the big questions? If I was to seek a world leader for changing, I'd start with Merkel. Putin is no dream, but everyone sucks. Let's not pretend we rule so much more. Is Russia on the move? Who isn't. IMO it is a simple question of logic and putting yourself in the position of someone else, what would you do? And yes, the right wing is on the rise in Europe. Political populism. But as a European, I'd be more worried about our own stuff than Russia. I dunno, we actually (political leadership) talk to each other. That helps. And at the same time, take part in the whole sanction thing. At the end of it, it hurts this little country more. So, unless EU does something useful, I don't see a reason why we should not look for our best interest. That does not mean a close alliance with Russia, it means to look for the pros and cons and make a decision. In case of escalation, yeah it would be a war, but why do the small ones be pawns for the likes of Merkel, who live a long ass way away, in safety. I've no respect for leaders who shout stuff but don't have to pay the price for it. She should come here and act tough. In da butt.

ah bull.
It's just that the "higher escelons" in the EU have no c-ordination.
It's one thing to bang your fist on the table and another to throw your fist on a knife.
Anyway I don't have time busy with work and SO however the real threat is zombie like creatures going around humming "free markets" "free markets" braiiiiiiiins
They'll stop or be stopped
Either way

And we also have turkey saying they want our islands.
it's detached completely from all norms, and it is for internal consumption but it's what she does. severing itself from all western structures then saying "back off with the kurds or we'll mess up an EU/NATO/western european alliance member"
They won't do it
we make our coffee the same way
(and GUNS)
I think coffee and guns are an important factor almost always
