Does the term "arms" include automatic weapons?

If the intent was to allow us to dump blood on the tree of liberty of whatever the euphemism is then citizens really ought to be able to maintain parity with the armed forces (legally if not financially)

I'd like to see a program of welfare to fund each American having an arsenal of extremely expensive weapons just to watch the Republicans heads spin around not knowing which way to vote.

They'd probably be fine with it if they could find a way to make sure that only white people got guns, e.g. "you are only eligible for a free machine gun if you live within five miles of a trailer park"

Just FYI at the federal level automatic weapons are not banned. You can in fact buy machine guns, but you have to register them and it has been illegal to register newly built ones since 1986. There are about 300,000 floating around in private hands.
