Nutbar attacks people with a sword. Kills one, injures four, gets shot multiple times but was taken alive. I guess guns are just that hard to come by in Sweden? No word on what type of sword in the news story. Mostly I'm curious to see how the Swedish media will handle this.

Perhaps he had seen Highlander one or two times too often
Several years ago we had a similar case, where someone ran amok with a Katana
although IIRC he only injured some people and killed noone, before he was stoppedTamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."

Now it's two dead. Beeb says the attacker was in his twenties, dressed in black, possibly wearing a Star Wars mask. And it was a "long sword." It sounds like perhaps he wanted to be a Sith Lord? Also, I was wrong, he only got shot once.

Guns run out of bullets, but swords never run out of stabs. On the other hand, the victim killing/maiming rate of a sword is far lower than that for a gun for the vast majority of attackers.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. But a wholly transparent world is an invisible world. To 'see through' all things is the same as not to see.”

Especially if I can run faster than the attacker and have a better endurance than him.Tamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."

If you are lucky, the chair is made of steel and will deflect any bullets.“It is no use trying to 'see through' first principles. If you see through everything, then everything is transparent. It now appears the suspect (who has died) might have been some sort of neo-Nazi type. Hard to say. But he posed for photos before going on a rampage: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-34602621
Perhaps he watched the first Hellboy movie too many times, then? I really can't think of many Nazi-swordfight images in media we can blame this on for a pat answer.

Hellboy?
What does Hellboy have to do with swordfighting?
It would make more sense to assume he watched a little too often Ragnar Lothbrok ... reminiscing about the good ol´ times when Norsemen still went on a Viking, plundering fortunes and killing innocents
