  • Gender Neutral in Philadelphia

Last week, we reported that a City Council committee approved a proposed gender neutral bathroom bill. Today, representatives confirmed that the full council passed the measure, which was originally introduced by Mark Squilla.

The bill requires that “male” and “female” signage be removed from all single-stall restrooms throughout Philadelphia. Squilla stated that the gender neutral bathrooms would “send a message declaring that all people, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation, are welcome.”

Last week, Nellie Fitzpatrick, the Director of LGBT Affairs for the city, said the measure would "assist in eliminating members of the public – store owners, employees, customers and so on – from policing the gender of others...This bill provides a space that is labeled for its purpose – a bathroom – and not a gender controlled space that allows others to question, harass or harm those seeking to use it."

"I have nothing against Wilson, but he's nowhere near the same calibre of QB as Flutie. Flutie threw for 5k+ yards in the CFL." -Ben Kenobi

I still can't remember why bathrooms are gendered.

I think it was a cost-cutting measure so they only had to put tampon machines in half of the restrooms

I'm surprised that the Victorians would even acknowledge people's need to defecate

According to feminists it's so that men always have a place to pee, but women have to wait. Somehow that makes it so that a man will always be president and you can go around raping whatever woman you can find.

The preceding story is an exaggeration.

If I have to escort my daughter to the toilet, do we have to go to the male or female one?
