Dude, people have come close to sinking US warships with a dinghy stuffed with explosives. If a lone US ship of any type opened fire on the Chinese just off Chinese waters, it would be sunk.

Even Tom "Go 'Murica WOOOO" Clancy didn't try to pretend AEGIS makes a ship invincible. It can intercept a large but finite number of attacks at one time, and depends on an onboard store of missiles to intercept with. Once that store is depleted, it's as big and fat a target as any other boat. Our one ship cannot smack around the entire Chinese navy.

Yoy know the USS Cole was also AEGIS equipped right? AEGIS was a great move forward in ship survivability, but it in no way makes them invincible. Any ship of any type that is alone near enemy coastline is horribly vulnerable, which is why the military don't tend to do such stupid things.

You're really bad at this. The US Cole wasn't sunk. It wasn't even a Cruiser, let alone an AEGIS Cruiser.

Wiki says Cole is a destroyer, but is ambiguous as to whether it has/had AEGIS in 2000. It at least has the component Phalanx CIWS. As the boat was attacked in harbor while being refueled, not at sea ready for battle, the point seems moot.
