I almost did that.
I forgot a frying pan on fire with oil so when it took a little fire, I poured water on it and woooosh there was a flame column to the ceiling.
Luckily my grandfather came darting in and put it out simply and elegantly with a blanket.
No fuss.

all you have to do to put out a grease fire on the stove is cover it.
and do not use a fire bottle, fire extinguisher... it will make a giant mess. It will put out the fire - but it's like nuking it.Comment

long time ago in navy... went to fire fighting training every other week while in port, mayport fl.
In a four story building but inside it looks just like a ship. every last detail.
and they light that bastard up. it was really a lot of fun. a couple of people would always be taken away, for smoke.Comment
