Well, Helene and Vanessa definitely are the most well known Schlagerqueens in germany (and, I guess, even in other german speaking countries, like Switzerland and Austria) and their concerts attract thousands of people. So yes, without a doubt Helene still is very popular among Schlagerfans in Germany.Originally posted by Serb View Post

I for my part am a big fan of Symphonic Metal (and also a little bit of Gothic and Power Metal)
Regarding Pop ... I actually like this as well, at least 1980s Pop.
But Schlager usually leaves me as cold as, for example, electronic music (which is something a very good friend of me is a fan of).
That the 2 best known representatives of Schlager are rather sexy and also likable doesn't change this.
And it definitely isn't their use of german language.
We currently have a german TV format running named "Sing meinen Song", where certain nationally or even internationally known stars sit together and sing each others songs, just with their own interpretation and in their own style. One of the paticipants of this years season was/is Floor Jansen (the well known singer of "Nightwish" and "After Forever").
She reinterpreted some german language songs in ways I definitely liked ... here 2 examples:
