Boys should be encouraged to play with dolls to make them more "nurturing and caring", equalities minister Jo Swinson has suggested.

So one woman in the UK thinks boys would be more nurturing and caring if they played with dolls? That's basically a fart in a hurricane.

Fortunately they seem to hire people with humor as the Doritos Facebook-Curators

Don't you think it may be more harming to a child to tell them that they should avoid certain colors and toys based on pure speculations and dogma? Wouldn't they then only begin to wonder why they like something that society says has a certain meaning behind it? Talking about confusing children. Their likes and dislikes evolve in time.

I don't actually think that harms a child unless it is because you don't like him/her. If they like to play with guns and cars and you don't let them because you want them to be more girly then it might harm them. But kids are resilient in most cases, and I don't even think that does real harm unless it is done by someone who has psychological problems.

I was just commenting that there are many people who think that encouraging boys to play with boy toys and girls to play with girl toys is making them those genders.

I think there are probably more instances of kids who like to play with dolls but aren't allowed to because their parents want them to be more masculine.

That's speculation. You hear that in the media and social media so you think that's the case. I think it's worse though to not let your boys play with certain toys because you believe they are rapists, or some such nonsense.

I think the idea that tomboys are tolerated and accepted more than feminine boys is more than "speculation"... and the vast majority of people don't care if their son likes to play with toy cars and guns.

Then speculation is another word that you don't know the meaning of. But I didn't say that weren't true. They probably are more accepted because nobody demonizes tomboys.

You're being a rude ******* because someone doesn't think "speculation" is the best word to describe something? Really????

Boys don't play with dolls. They play with ACTION FIGURES.
