But airstrikes are a far cry from an invasion, and Iran would never respond to airstrikes with a nuclear weapon, because they know the sure outcome of any nuclear exchange with the US.

and than you would see maybe a force of 30000 troops secure certain key areas. Now the real mess starts for the US, clean up, feeding everyone and trying to get some kind of government going.

There is nothing that the US could gain by invading Iran. 30,000 US troops could not begin to secure key areas, not with the need to protect a long and vulnerable line of supply (since the areas you would want to occupy lie on the far side of two mountain ranges from the nearest viable port). It is questionable whether 200,000 troops could do it.

Iran isn't Iraq 2003, with a ramshackle army and in the midst of a civil war. Its troops are motivated, decently armed, and supported by the populace. Fantasies about US invasions don't stand the smell test.
