  • SCIENTISTS GROW IN-LAB FIVE-WEEK-OLD FETUS BRAIN

A recent medical discovery has got philosophers and scientists alike wondering how much is too much? New ethics debates arise after scientists grow in-lab five-week-old fetus brain that has all the reflexes and cognition abilities of a veritable human brain.

Anand on the other hand claims the five-week-old fetus brain signified the beginning of a new era in medicine, one that could see the cloning of human organs. He explained the media that the brain has been formed through the cultivation of stem cells from humans’’ skin. After a five-week gestation period, the small brain has even developed its own eye and spinal cord, the researcher further boasted.

If we were to take into consideration the current abortion rules, the lab-grown brain could be described as a living person once the 24-week threshold has been overcome.

Adnan reassures the media that his work observes all the ethical rules. He will ignore all these scare tactics that prevent progress from happening and will continue to grow his fetus-like brain until it becomes 20 weeks old, the scientist has concluded.

I can understand the need for medical progress, but I am having conflict with this whole concept. Is this not basically cloning a human? True, being a mother, I have difficulty thinking about a 5 month fetus not having a self awareness. Thought I would seek out others input to try and not make an emotional opinion. What do you think?

not being a mother, i could give two ****s about where people come from

pregnancy kills... it is a life threatening condition to both mother and child

if we could genetically engineer people so that they'd grow in eggs or something and then hatch, we should do that

if children or people could be instantly grown by taking samples from people, we should do that

if I could make a clone of myself to harvest organs to extend my life by a thousand years, WE SHOULD ABSO****INGLUTELY DO THAT

I'll be damned if I'm going to sit here and let anyone, religious fanatics or otherwise, try and equate the moral value of a fully formed, established human being... a person... and people want to pretend like medical waste is the same as that

    WHAT THE ****

    **** those people

    such technology is inevitable

    you can cry about it

    or

you can just deal with it and spare the rest of us your opinions

and from a religious angle, if god cared about the moral value of a lump of biomass, he wouldn't have made them so fragile

what is the infant mortality rate of human beings before all this civilization nonsense?

hell, as a woman, you'd be dead by 13 or 14... god willing, if you produced at least 4-5 children... maybe 1-2 surviving into adulthood

that's essentially your value as a person... from a religious point of view

I am not religious, so I tend to form my opinion from reality. I have been pregnant 4x, one pregnancy terminated early at 12 weeks. I really didn't grieve, there was no connection. By 20 weeks, there were definite differences. I cannot help but use that as a reference.

Admittedly, I can see the benefit medically in cloning your own organs. Though, I thought they were all ready able to create organs in petri dishes without creating a complete fetus. I guess my concern falls along the lines of consciousness/subconscious within the clone. Certainly, a 20 week fetus's organs would be too small for implant? Aargh! Like I stated previously, I just don't know.

ID:	9101797 I found it. I have no problem with petri dish organs! I was and am ecstatic at these medical milestones!

i haven't been pregnant myself, but i have witnessed how the condition impacts a person's ability to think rationally

MWLC could use the five week old fetus brain as an upgrade for his current equipment.

Horrific. A living, human brain floating in a jar, with no possible means of seeing, hearing, or other input.

                        And no way to scream.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.
