      Export Import Bank
"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you're not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration." - Hillary Clinton, 2003

Doesn't make much sense but I read it as a company will stop illegal activities. Will anybody go to jail for previous crimes ?
With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

The export-import bank is a bank that gives out guaranteed loans for people buying American products, and in practice the overwhelmingly majority (80% or so) of those loans by value are for Boeing airliners. Nothing was illegal, it's just corporate welfare and a huge trade violation, flimsily justified with the excuse "oh well the Europeans do it for Airbus too."

Ah, the good ole "we want free trade" except for those companies that have paid insane amounts of money topoliticians that are threatened by foreign competition

There is no such thing as a free market.

                Anywhere.

The important thing is to understand what is being subsidised and try to determine what effects those subsidies cause (are they ones you want).

Wow, the OP is being especially dumb today. The fact is most countries now finance exports at discount financing rates so the US has to do the same or defacto US made goods are at a disadvantage.

Yeah, learn from us, we actually place extra taxes on exports

This is really a power struggle within the Republican Party. This development means the Koch brothers currently have the upper hand.

Well, your government is stupid. Soy beans are our greatest export and we badly need the foreign currency earnings? Clearly, we should limit exports to keep domestic prices low, so that every Farmer goes broke, and we have a foreign exchange crisis.

Register certainly doesn't think things through. He generally just parrots what ever he reads in some crap partisan publication, like Reason Magazine, and thinks that substitutes for informed discussion.
