should obama have said what he said today -

The Altera Centauri collection has been brought up to date by Darsnan. It comprises every decent scenario he's been able to find anywhere on the web, going back over 20 years.

if you don't know what he said go read it on any news site. I'm not going to say it here due to the fact that aeson has his 20g banning gun going. but for real... there are a number of other ways Obama could have put it.
I think a little less of him. what did it get for him. did he slip up?
Massive non-story. The real story is that he thinks it worthwhile to spend an hour of his timee (plus travel time) to make a podcast with a comedian.
Using the N-word in its appropriate context is as proper as using "Nazi" or any of the other inflammatory words in their appropriate contexts.
The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty…we will be remembered in spite of ourselves… The fiery trial through which we pass, will light us down, in honor or dishonor, to the last generation… We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth.

If the OP isn't comfortable using the word "******" in a thread about the word "******" then I can understand why other posters might not feel comfortable using the word "******" either
Sort of like if somebody started a thread about how it's not appropriate to use the word "******" (referring to homosexuals, not bundles of sticks) but danced around the word (I don't know how they'd do this, since "the f-word" means something else) then other posters might also refrain from using the word "******" even if they thought it was an appropriate context in which to do so

After your initial post, I thought it prudent to be circumspect. You have thirty more years' experiencing dealing with aeson.

Since when was it controversial for a black person to say the n-word?
Some white people complain that it's racist for black people to be allowed to say ****** while white people aren't allowed to say ******. And technically, yeah, that is racist, but at the same time it's a pretty stupid piece of racism to complain about - 99.9% of the time that a white person says ****** it's intended to cause offense, so it's prudent for white people to be very circumspect about using the word ****** the remaining 0.1% of the time.

I have a dream that one day black people and white people will unite in calling black people "******s".
