Fraud on credit and charge cards: Check your statements

I just found 4

Amex was very good about deleting them. Paypal was involved, which I rarely use, possibly an earlier transaction compromised from a dormant account.

Fraud seems to be more common these days. The amounts added up to nearly $2000, all on the same day. I'm getting a new card.

It's unusual for old horsie to be targetted because I am very careful. I shred anything with my name on it like letters addressed to me, take quite a few opsec precautions.

Yeah, I check my statements every week or two. Amex has even called me when I made irregular or out of the ordinary purchases to check if it was indeed me.

I check CC and Banks at least twice a week. So far, so good. Knock on wood.

I think these credit card companies should be sued for handing out cards based on little more than an address, and I'd like to sue these people who keep sending me mail I have to shred.

Back when I was younger that was a standard practice. I'd get sent at least a dozen cards a year.
Fortunately that practice has declined. I haven't gotten one in over 20 years
