  • Failed small business owners are an insufferable lot

    1. They think the country runs on their small contributions to the economy. Nevermind that almost all essentials to living are purchased from and created by large multinational corporations.
    2. The only thing standing between them success isn't lack business acumen or competition from other businesses, no, its taxes, regulatory environment, employees, anything but how they actually run the business. Most small business owner don't put the onus on themselves or if they do, it's in a very disingenuous way where they try to garner sympathy for being failures.
    3. It's not a tragedy when one individual fails to achieve the american dream of entrepreneurship. Not everyone is cut out for it.

46% of non-farm GDP in 2008 from small businesses. Then consider that many small businesses become large when they are successful. Or get bought out by large corporations when they have a great idea. (Those large corporations generally having been small businesses at some point themselves.) So pretending small businesses don't impact the economy in a major way is rather ignorant.

By definition a failed small business doesn't contribute squat

Also, they blame everyone but themselves for their failures.

Some laws, taxes and regulations do affect small businesses in a much higher proportion than they do large corporations. Take, for example, tax or legal loopholes you need a large amount of lawyers and/or accountants to take advantage of.

A small business for which this would have meant the difference is justified in complaining about this.

Accounting for costs like taxes is very basic

I have no pity for people who suck at math

Tax accounting is not basic. Take a course first and come back please.

Why take a course for something I already know?
