This place is ****ing awesome.

Yesterday I went to a restaurant in Tallinn with HC and an old friend and we got stuff like salmon-stuffed ravioli and duck filet for like $10. There were a flutist and a pianist playing for the patrons. The food was incredible.

Most people, especially young people, speak English. The whole country is very very western but with non-western prices. Helsinki is an hour and a half away. Stockholm is an overnight boat ride.

Unlike in Israel, nobody has tried to rip me off. The taxi drivers don't turn off their meters. People are friendly and neighborly.

We went to Helsinki, Finland yesterday and visited the Suomenlinna. It was cool but a lot more expensive.

I've been wondering if it's okay to hire women here based on their appearances, and if all the pretty girls work in the tourist areas. I think I've seen a large enough sample to say that yes, they're something else around here.

South Africa also is Western (at least part, the rich part) with non-Western prices.

The difference between South Africa (2$ for a nice Latte, 4$ for a nice lunch, 14$ for a fancy dinner) and Chile (4$ for a small Latte, 15$ for a nice lunch, you have to be discriminating though because you can be charged 20+$ for a bad lunch) is just staggering.

Chile is non-Western with Western prices (at least for some things).

(in Chile you won't even find a nice Latte outside of rich/tourist areas, in SA there are plenty of nice latte places in middle class areas.)

No question that there can be a safety issue in South Africa.

I felt comfortable and safe, but I stayed to certain areas (middle class and above in the city).
