              I for my part always got my bloodworks together with value range (for normal values) and units,
              regardless of the specific doctor or hospital where they were ordered/made,
              so I guess that, at least for germany, it is standard

                Same here.
                You can check immideatly and by yourself if something is amiss, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't consult your doctor.
                There are different methods used sometimes but the normal value range for each method is always there.

                    What about method used?

                    When i got my thyroid checked up, the doctor sent me to another lab to get the tests redone because I had borderline hypothyroidism but the error range of the method was large enough that it might put me outside needing pills, which was indeed the case.
