Exactly like Illinois... It really doesn't matter who I vote for in the presidential election. Fortunately, my vote does matter in many other contests.

Yep, which is why I love that my vote matters because Wisconsin is a battleground state.

Lets see if I'm still glad I'm in a battleground state 10 months from now when I feel like gouging my eyes out from all the damn political commercials.

Your local elections do matter a lot too, as the administration is discovering to its woe now that Republicans have most state legislatures and governors' mansions, plus majorities in both houses of Congress. If they win the White House and hold the Senate in 2016, they'll be running this place from tip to toe.

It's all the same.
You're assuming popular vote totals don't have any propaganda value.

Well, if Fun gets a thousand people to vote his way, it might almost affect the popular vote totals enough for anyone to take note. But not really. Hell, even without the EC, this country is so big that voting only offers the illusion of power. Possibly not on a very local level, depending on voter turnout. But for President, certainly, the numbers are so huge that I "might" affect the election in a sense significantly less meaningful than that in which I "might" win the lottery.

Oh yeah. I tended to play mostly Sword of Islam towards the end there, before I uninstalled the whole thing for taking over my life.

unfortunately all the bonuses are illusory, but you do get a vague feeling of having done something useful.

I did vote for George McGovern. Too bad his WWII record wasn't publicized.

Local elections are so important, and fun too.
