  • I am no longer a grammar Nazi.

How far would you go to correct your pet peeve? Would you create a computer program just to find it? Would you build a weekly, scheduled habit around curating those results? Would you, ultimately, manually edit tens of thousands of Wikipedia articles to obliterate that pet peeve from the face of the internet? One man…

This is just about the saddest thing I've ever read.*

Hmm. I'd considered doing some grammatical editing on Wikipedia before. Though, I take solace in the fact that my urge to insert inappropriate comments is just as strong as my urge to correct mistakes.

I have on occasion corrected poor grammar/typos that I run across while browsing Wikipedia, but I really only do it on a whim.

"Wiki" isn't a word and should be removed from all online user edited encyclopaedias.

Well after you posted "My ex, Elok..." in another thread, I don't think you could claim grammar Nazi-dom, even if you wanted to .

Spellcheck isn't considered a word. I think it should be.

That sentence wasn't wrong, just stylistically unwieldy and semantically ambiguous.

Grammatically speaking, it was incorrect. The comma in that situation is used to set off parenthetical elements. You failed by not doing so, but rather referencing someone else.

If you were using the comma to set off introductory elements, you should have said "Elok, my ex..." without a closing comma.

The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind.

It's a vocative address, Imran, and it's perfectly grammatical.
