Is anyone here familiar with old comic books? specifically, how to find their value, how to sell them, and how to know if I'm getting a good price?

I've got a bunch that I've had stored in my closet. Also, my sister and her husband are finally moving out of the family house into their own place. While getting stuff ready for the movers, my brother in law found some more that had gotten put inside my dad's old desk.

There is a family owned comic book store next to my gym. It's been in business for a long time at various locations. The owner's daughter taught a class that I took when I was enrolled in a Game Design program at the IL Institute of Art. I was thinking of taking some of them over there and seeing what they would give me for them. But obviously, I'm not going to hand them over for anything less than market value.

I have zero experience with this and would appreciate any advice and/or tips people have for me.

Search on-line for equivalents and see the value.
Then figure you'll get about half of what they're selling for if you go to a dealer. Maybe a bit more if it's not common. But they have to make a buck and they're taking the risk so don't expect full value.
If you want more than that you'll have to sell them on-line yourself and wait for someone to bite.

Do you know of any sites that offer such information?

I'm hesitant to Google as I wouldn't know a good resource from a bad one.

Sell them on ebay or Amazon Marketplace, the latter takes a cut but at least you don't have to faff around if they're a commodity with specialist buyers.

I'm sure there's plenty of places with prices for them online - see what the going rate is. Also check their condition against grading sites - your idea of mint condition might only be their idea of good.

Finally watched that new Constantine series, but the jury is definitely out in my case. I'll give it another chance with ep 2.

Still, it got me all nostalgic about what's left of my collection, including the first couple of dozen Hellblazers...

There's too much to list. However, some stuff stands out.

Swamp Thing #1-6

beyond that, there's some Archie comics... and other spin offs. Some Superman stuff, and spin offs.

Most of this seems to be from around the mid to late 1960's.

Mine are all self-collected 80s/early 90s stuff.

No way you are going to sell those for more than 20 cents. People will see the cover and think they are getting ripped off.
