          • Official document from a Ministry of International Affairs of a Russian Federation

            COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS
            Russia-US agreement implementation

English translation starts on page 4

It's a neat table with things like

            6. Launch joint operations against ISIS and
            the Al-Nusra Front.

            Russian Aerospace Forces have singlehandedly
            continued airstrikes against
ISIS and Al-Nusra targets (50 sorties,
            140-150 airstrikes
            a day on average).

The USAF has not attacked Al-Nusra targets.
            Their operations against ISIS average
            12-15 sorties, 8-10 airstrikes a day. On
17 September 2016, the USAF bombed Syrian
            Army
            positions near Deir ez-Zor, killing
62 and injuring more than 100 personnel.

            Joint US-Russian operations against ISIS
and the Al-Nusra Front never launched, allowing
terrorists to retain control over a
large territory and carry out offensive operations
            against government troops.

            • That's a distortion of reality. The US has launched more air strikes against Daesh, while the Russians are targeting groups not even aligned with Daesh. I wouldn't expect anything less from the Russian media (Putin mouthpiece).

                • Unfortunately that article is rife with inaccuracies and contradicting arguments.

I particulalrly liked the one that went:

Accusation: Kosovo intervention was illegal under international law.

                  Answer: Yes it was

                  • Regarding Kosovo I especially liked the one that mentions the years of diplomacy that preceded the military intervention, years over which trhe serbians continued to commit atrocities against the population.
And also, that the KFOR operation in Kosovo was under UN mandate (which also means that Russia could just have used their veto rights in order to prevent the mandate to pass (and the operation to start)) and that russia initially even was part of the KFOR troops.

And that this totally goes against russian claims that the russian annexation of Crimea isn't different from Kosovo

While this is uncontested one should examine a lot of other factors such as UCK who was training them, what they were doing, how the yugoslav army first reacted to that, how they responded etc

That was after the invasion, which illegally happened, without a UN mandate at all.

                      Doesn't change the facts.

To say nothing about NATO violating its own defensive stature.

I distinctly remember bus loads of Russian troops coming to Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo to eat at the American mess hall because their own food sucked so bad. Seriously, it was like their own government never feed them and they were astounded at the crab legs and steak the Americans got on deployment. The ****ers were even getting to go bags.

To be fair, the Americans liked to go to the Italian mess hall because they had free wine in juice boxes. Even the Brits would let people have two beers a day while the US camps were dry.

Seriously though, the look on the face of those Russian troops when they saw Americans got to BBQ steaks, burgers, and brats while they ate disgusting Russian versions of MREs has hilarious. No wonder they were bused to the US base at every meal time. Being generous we Americans shared as the Russian government didn't seem able or willing to feed their soldiers well. I traded to get a Russian MRE just to see what was in it and it was disgusting. They had actual canned fish, as in a metal can, and the fish head was included. Nasty, nasty, nasty.

They tried everything and the West was often slammed for not intervening quickly enough.

The same thing was true with Rwanda (in reality nothing was done at all)

Kosovo wasn't annexed as part of any western country and the military intervention was entirely under international framework and was legal.
