Is it still definitely Kindle, or has the Nook stopped being appallingly dreadful?

My two week old Kindle is amazing.

I was unaware that Nooks were bad. I've had mine (the discontinued Nook Simple Touch) for 2 years now and quite like it.

Aren't Kindles just regular tablets now? Is there anything that makes them better e-readers than say the Ipad?

Depends on the model. Kindle form factor (bigger than ipad mini, smaller than regular ipad) is more book like and will fit into bags a bit better. For a reader, the big difference is the integration into Amazon for e-book buying.

I only buy my e-books from Google and use my phone or nexus for reading, so I don't think the Kindle is for me.

The only difference is e-ink. Reading e-ink is much easier than reading LCD screens for some. But if you're getting an e-ink e-reader to read your e-books, that's all you're getting.

No. They're not regular tablets. Black and white, slow update time on the screen compared to ipad and a totally different screen. Kindle is for reading, and you can do it outside. That is hard to do with ipad. And ipad is a multiuse computer, Kindle is book only.

By a happy coincidence, that's all I want.

I've always found e-ink tablets to be too clunky to really enjoy reading on. I like to highlight and make bookmarks and notes in my ebooks.

I love books, never read an e-book, hate the whole idea.

It's a godsend. I don't have the space for more books.
